This wheelchair-friendly rental apartment is near to the beautiful farmhouse of the Cortijo de Los Piedaos, where incoming telephone calls and faxes can be received. Access to and from a car is easy for the disabled, as vehicles can pull up right outside the front door, which is over 3ft (90cms) wide with a level threshold. Cars are parked nearby. Inside the house the main bedroom, bathroom, living/dining/kitchen areas and the patio, garden and pool are linked by wide double doors. From the entrance hall a short ramp leads up to a large living/dining/kitchen area, with terracotta floors, satellite TV, DVD, CD player, internet access point (bring your own laptop) and lots of books.
The kitchen area has a double sink, fridge freezer, microwave, gas hob and electric oven, all carefully designed for ease of use by the visitor in a wheelchair.
Level access through sliding French windows leads onto a charming shaded terrace with barbecue and a sheltered garden, with a wheelchair-accessible pathway leading to the private swimming pool.
The pretty little private pool has an ecological purification system that avoids the use of chlorine.
The main double bedroom has a high double bed and charming rustic furniture.
A generous en-suite bathroom has an open, level floor shower area with a fold-down seat, basin, bidet and WC, all with ergonomically positioned grab-rails. A washing machine is conveniently positioned in this bathroom. The second bedroom, up a few steps, has twin beds and a walk-in wardrobe. The bathroom adjoining the second bedroom has a bath with shower, basin, bidet and WC.
The villa is well insulated and has good through natural ventilation, plus air-conditioning and central air heating using an ecological heat pump. The bathrooms have heated towel rails and infrared heaters. Hot water comes from a solar panel with butane or electric backup systems. The architect's plan explains the layout. The floor area is about 100 sq. meters (1000 sq feet).
