Before your journey to Los Piedaos check that the shops are not going to be shut due to a local holiday.

Even when most shops are shut there may be a couple of small shops open on the road between the main traffic lights and the river bridge. Galindo's cafe in the high Street always has bread and cakes.


JANUARY 1st NEW YEAR'S DAY shops shut.

JANUARY 6th EPIPHANY shops shut.

JANUARY 20th San Sebastian shops shut pm.

End Feb/beginning March Carnival shops shut Sat pm.

February 28th Dia de Andaluda shops shut.

MARCH 19TH SAINT JOSEPH'S DAY nothing shuts.

Weekend at end March Canoe race Seven Eye Bridge.

Two weeks before Easter Friday Cristo de la Expiracion shops shut.

EASTER Shops shut Thursday and Friday open Saturday and Monday.

Weekend at Easter time Feria I Gastronomy and local arts exhibition.

MAY 1ST MAY DAY shops shut all day.

May 3rd Dia de la Cruz festival in Granada with flower decorated crosses.

Early June Gran Premio de Fondo ciudad de Orgiva. Lanjaron to Orgiva road shut Sunday morning for marathon.

July 14th to 16th Virgen del Carmen (barrio bajo Orgiva) shops open.

July 28th to 30th Santa Marta (Casillas Nuevas Orgiva) shops open.

August 9th to 11th Santa Filomena (barrio bajo Orgiva) shops open.

AUGUST 15TH ASSUMPTION DAY Wondeful fireworks in Almunecar 2300.

End Sept/start October Feria shops shut Friday and Monday.

OCTOBER 12TH NATIONAL DAY shops shut.

NOVEMBER 1ST ALL SAINTS DAY shops shut.
