Car hire is widely available, relatively cheap, and easy to organise by booking direct from the hire company on-line. The track to our farm is rather rough, as are some of the interesting scenic drives that we recommend in the mountains that surround us. We therefore strongly recommend that you hire a standard type of saloon rather than anything ground hugging, special and/or sporty!
Car rental at the airports of Malaga, Granada or Almeria makes it simple to get to Los Piedaos. You can contact Car Jet or Gold car who our visitors have found to be cheap and reliable.
If you have an account with one of the "big boys", such as Hertz or Avis, they are represented at the airports.
If you do decide to find your own budget car, there are many firms to choose from, so you can do some research before you book your vehicle. Standards vary enormously and "cheapest" can be far from "best", and it's important to check exactly what you're getting for your money. You may not get all the extra comforts such as air conditioning, electric windows and a CD player. Whilst you may be able to manage quite happily without a CD player, you will find that driving in southern Spain in July or August without air conditioning is hell on wheels!
If you arrive by train and bus you can hire a car in Orgiva just for touring in this area.
By the way,if you are driving down through France we would highly recommend that you spend a night at Le Logis d'Elpenor.Just North Of La Rochelle in the village of Le Gue de velluire, it is a beautifully restored house by the river Vendee where you will get a warm welcome and a supurb dinner.
